About a year ago, through a series of events, Claire asked Jesus into her heart. It was a very sweet moment with she and her dad and we were so incredibly excited for her to make this step! Since then, although there have still been many battles of the will, she has really developed a tender heart toward the Lord.
I can often hear her humming worship songs or praying for others or just talking about God. The great thing is that her little sister is catching some things too! It is so awesome to see this develop.
I have always heard that the Lord can speak through the mouths of babes, but until I had kids I never really understood what that meant. God has definitely used Claire to speak into our lives as of late. And it never ceases to amaze me how He uses those moments to encourage our hearts.
A few precious conversations we've shared recently:
1) A few weeks ago, Chris came home from work really discouraged and stressed out. Much more than I had ever seen him. He was being really hard on himself and at the dinner table I told him that he wasn't perfect and he shouldn't expect himself to be perfect. Claire immediately pipes up, "but God is perfect!" It was exactly what Chris needed to hear to encourage his spirit.
2) One night while praying with the girls before bedtime, Claire asked if Ava knew Jesus. She told Chris that she wanted to pray for Ava to know Jesus so that she and Ava could be together in heaven some day.
3) A few mornings ago when Chris asked if he could read the Bible to the girls, Ava said "no Bible". Claire responded, "but Ava that is how we get to know God!"
4) When Uncle Jon called recently, Claire asked if it was John the Baptist!
5) Tonight, when praying before bed, Claire prayed a sweet prayer thanking Jesus for the day and praying for her friends at school to know Him more.
There are many more examples, but these are just a few that have stuck out to us.
Sweet Claire, we are so thankful for your tender spirit toward the Lord and pray you continue to grow in your relationship with Him!
